Eugenic Ghosts Project: A Community Approach to Eugenic and Racialist Literature in the Academic Library
Peer-Review Session | Wednesday, June 11th, 2025 | 12:00pm – 1:00pm
The Eugenic Ghosts Project at Denison University is a non-hierarchical collaboration between students, librarians, staff, and faculty that asks how–or even whether–our liberal arts community should preserve and engage with a collection of eugenicist and racist texts that haunt not only our stacks but also our academic disciplines. We propose a peer review session at which we present the project as a form of community building (as critical pedagogy), seeking feedback as we work to bring together collaborators interested in decolonial, antiracist, and community-directed approaches to constructing a complex research and teaching collection.
